FHM Philippines...Roxanne Barcelo - June 2017

Roxanne Barcelo, Roxee B, or Ate Anne—whatever you want to call her, started out as a fresh-faced teen on Click. Just when she was transitioning into a more mature image (a stint at Kuya's house), Roxanne suddenly found herself catering to a younger audience via Art Angel.

She was able to fully embrace her sexy side when she landed the inside pages of FHM's July 2013 and December 2014 issues. You can say her cover appearance is long overdue, but for that, you can blame her conservative upbringing under the watchful gaze of nuns during high school and college.

"You can imagine the rules I was faced with," Roxanne explains. "I could still be an actress, but only up to a point. I got used to the rules, but I remember when I was in third year college, the rebel in me was saying, 'Man, something has to change.' But I guess I found other ways to express that rebellion."

While in acting limbo, she channeled her burning passion through electronica hip-hop and the culinary arts. Call those avenues a bit removed from her original, chosen craft, but she believes everything is part of the process. It may have taken almost two decades before establishing a persona that is true to her heart, but what's important is the personal growth.

"That's how I feel now. I'll tell you the truth, every time I felt like quitting, something good would come along. This industry can break you. It broke me several times," Roxanne admits. "Dreams are constantly shut down in this industry, and if you let it get to you it can really break you. I even broke down when I was in PBB, and people saw that. I don't regret that they saw that."

If you want a sincere showbiz success story that is a product of perseverance and persistence, hers should be a fine example.

Roxanne's journey is a compelling read in itself, but the June issue is filled to the brim with the most essential man reads. Unorthodox rehab methods that President Rodrigo Duterte may want to hear about, results of the 2017 National Sex IQ survey, and the ways of genius millennials are just some of the features that make this issue worth getting for.
