Ramon Bong Revilla, Jr.(son of former Senator Ramon Revilla), is a Filipino actor, television
presenter, turned politician, and currently a Senator of Philippines. Revilla starred in numerous
action movies during the 1980s and the 1990s. He is a true-blooded Caviteño has brought these
silver screen attributes into real life since he officially entered the field of public service in 1995
as vice governor.
In 1998, he became the provincial governor and during his term the image of Cavite was
transformed from being a notorious murder capital to one of the most peaceful provinces
in the country. He paid attention to the improvement of facilities, equipment and manpower
of the Philippine National Police and other public order agencies.
In February 2004, Ramon Bong Revilla, Jr. ran for the position of Senator under the
administration. He won and received the second highest number of votes from the national
electorate.
In 2010, the reelectionist senator became the candidate who gathered the most number of
votes in Philippine electoral history. With 19,513,521 votes based on the official count
of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), he even surpassed the votes garnered by the
elected president.
In 2013, Senator Ramon Bong Revilla Jr. was being dragged into alleged anomalies involving
the supposed misuse of these discretionary pork barrel funds, along with his colleagues
Senators Gringo Honasan, Jinggoy Estrada and Juan Ponce Enrile.
Despite the weakness of Lakas party due to arrest of Rep. Gloria Arroyo, (former Philippine president) Revilla assumed the new Chairman of the party replacing Arroyo and he is the potentially run as standard bearer of the party in the 2016 Presidential Elections.
