Following Arianny Celeste's comeback last month, we've got another FHM favorite gracing our cover for the second time: Yam Concepcion!
Take a long, hard gulp, fellas, because here she is again, showing the same amount of aversion toward clothes as she did back in her original FHM appearance in October 2012.
Shot by Doc Marlon Pecjo, the cover portrays Yam in her most natural state: calm but extraordinarily beguiling. In her no-frills appearance, her eyes grip you like no other. Yam has never had a problem with nakedness—and we say this not merely because of her role in Erik Matti's 2012 erotic thriller Rigodon, and the FHM covers. Beyond the physical nakedness, she's never been afraid of showing people who she is inside—especially now that she's been in the industry for quite some time.
In our cover story, Yam reveals that in her young showbiz career, she's learned to not say things just because it might please people and that she has gotten more comfortable about being herself:
"Ngayon I’m more comfortable being in a studio. I’m more myself. Kasi sometimes when you’re in front of a camera, you’re not being yourself. Sa utak mo, sasabihin mo yung gustong marinig ng ibang tao, or to please other people, or to make a good impression. But now it’s so much different. I guess I just show my real self. This is who I am. Kung masaya ako, masaya ako. Kung ayaw ko, ayaw ko. I’m more open now."
In an era where social media sniffs out frauds immediately, Yam's mindset of being genuine scores big points in our books. Years ago, she was christened with the title "New Pantasya Ng Bayan," the spiritual successor to Joyce Jimenez. Whereas most other stars would get swallowed up by their own hype, Yam has remained refreshingly sober and humble. She tells us:
"I really don’t see myself as that. Hindi naman siya established na title for me. I’ve only been in the industry for three or four years, and to have a certain title na established na, malabo yata mangyari yun, 'di ba?"
Yam even thinks of her image as a way to inspire people. She quips, "I also want to influence other people na…okay lang mag-ayos-ayos minsan. Ha ha!"
Also scoring big points from us: the fact that she's a huge fan of the Foo Fighters. She tells us that she'd be speechless if she got to meet the band's vocalist Dave Grohl, whom she credits as the guy who inspired her to play the drums. "Sobrang saludo ako sa kanya," she quips.
These are just some of the reasons saludo rin kami kay Yam. There are more, though, so make sure to check out her full interview and set of photos inside FHM's September 2015 issue. Our ninth issue of the year also includes great articles on the prettiest girls ever to have graced primetime television; TV icons (Kuya Germs), TV phenoms (Alden Richards) and Korean TV phenoms (Dasuri Choi) and the newest Marimar (Megan Young); and a feature on how to have an awesome bro's day out.
