That is Sam Pinto, her bronze back arched against the backdrop of the soothing Boracay beach.
This is the third time we've worked with her (July 2010, December 2011), and just like the old times, the entire shoot was relatively seemless. Relatively because the crew, led by photographer Doc Marlo Pecjo, that worked with Sam felt how the sun's scorching rays demanded swift movement. The consummate professional that she is, our cover girl brushed it off and blew us away with impeccable shots.
Sam admits, "I was like, 'No, no, no. I'm done with that whole sexy thing,'" during a conversation she had with a friend about posing again. "Because I didn't know that you guys were going to reformat that time. I was like, 'I'm okay na. I think I'm done.'"
Aside from fancying our new aesthetic direction, her decision to grace the magazine with her presence was bolstered by being able to lie low in the industry for a couple of years.
"It was a good break for me kasi parang napapagod din, just like a restart. At least now that I'm doing so many things again, I'm fresh again parang, 'Okay, I want to do this again.'"
Unlike other comebacking celebrities who try too hard to stay on the absolute top, Sam is quite satisfied as to where she is now in her career.
She says, "Honestly, I'm actually happy now, whatever's happening with me. Kung wala (nang mangyari), I have my backup Baler plan; I'll just live there. If I have work, that's when I go to Manila. On the other hand, if there's still work, okay, dito pa ako, push pa hanggang kaya pa."
